about

In 1992, after five years as Art Directors and Senior Designers at Imprimatur Design (formally Design Systems), an award winning design studio in Cambridge, MA, Jonathan Jackson and Cynthia Delfino left their comfortable jobs, and co-founded Egg Design Partners to fill a need in the market unmet by larger design firms – direct contact between designer and client, in a relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere combined with high-level design service.

Egg’s award-winning work has been included in national magazines such as Print, Communications Arts, Step by Step, and Verbum. They have won awards for creative excellence from The Art Directors Club of New York, The Creative Club of Boston, the Society of Technical Communications, and others.

Jonathan and Cynthia served on the faculty of The School of the Museum of Fine Arts for two years, where they taught Graphic Design and Typography on the Computer. Cynthia left Egg Design in 2002 to live in Italy.

Timothy Preston joined Egg as a full partner in 1996 after working as Art Director/Senior Designer for Richland Design Associates for over 10 years. His work has been recognized by The Creative Club of Boston, The Art Directors Club of Boston, Corporate Showcase and Print Magazine. His experience in web design, identity systems and collateral complements Egg’s existing strengths in packaging, collateral, direct mail, and identity systems.

Melissa Rowe joined Egg Design in 2005. We describe her role as “everything but design”. A highly organized and effective project manager she takes care of the details, makes sure everyone is informed and keeps every project on track. She is the left brain, who balances our right brained creativity. Formerly a marketing professional, at a medical device company, Melissa brings a wealth of marketing know-how and experience to our client’s projects.

The newest addition to the Egg team, Marie Backus grew up in Germany where she studied graphic design. Marie showed up on our doorstep carrying a portfolio of work that showcased her sophisticated design sense. Our first question was “Why can’t American design students design like this?” Our second question was “Can we hire you?” Before joining Egg as a graphic designer Marie had worked for agencies in Germany, Canada and the United States.
